You're rarely more than a few minutes from a plaza with a grocery store, a pharmacy, and a few restaurants. Parks and historic sites

Greenmead Historical Park is the standout. The city bought the 95-acre site in 1976. It's built around the 1820s homestead of pioneer Joshua Simmons and includes a 13-building historical village, the original farm complex, a nature trail, a community garden, and open recreation fields. Hines Drive cuts through the southern part of the city, a scenic parkway lined with trails and small lakes that connects Livonia to neighboring communities along the Rouge River corridor. The city also keeps a number of smaller neighborhood parks and the Rosedale Gardens Historic District, one of its older planned neighborhoods.
