Three things anchor the township. The first is the Clinton River, which the community is named for and which forms from three branches inside the township before it runs east to Lake St. Clair. The second is The Mall at Partridge Creek, an open-air shopping center off Hall Road that pulls shoppers from across the east side. The third is sheer size: at roughly 28 square miles and over 100,000 people, this is one of the largest communities in the region, big enough to hold a real range of neighborhoods, price points, and housing eras.
Day to day, life here runs on the car. You drive to the grocery store, the mall, the kids' practices, and work. That's normal for this part of Macomb County, and the road grid makes it easy. Errands are quick. The township leans residential and family-oriented, with subdivisions, apartment complexes, and pockets of older housing mixed across a wide footprint. It borders Sterling Heights, Mount Clemens, and Macomb Township, so you're never far from more shopping, dining, or services. Summers are when the place opens up: parks fill, the river trails get used, and backyards do a lot of work.

For healthcare, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital's main campus sits inside the township on 19 Mile Road, and McLaren Macomb runs an outpatient surgery center here as well (its main hospital is next door in Mount Clemens). A downtown Detroit commute over those 22 miles typically runs 35 to 45 minutes by car.

Things to do in Clinton Township

Shop and eat at The Mall at Partridge Creek, the open-air center off Hall Road that draws from across the east side.
Spend a summer afternoon at George George Memorial Park
Ballfields, paths, and event space.
Get out on the Clinton River for fishing or walk the trails that follow it.
Run a full day of errands along the Hall Road (M-59) corridor without backtracking, between the big-box stores and chain restaurants.
Take a short drive into neighboring Mount Clemens or Sterling Heights when you want a change of scenery or different dining.

Is Clinton Township a good place to buy?

For most buyers, yes, with one honest tradeoff. You get space, a top-ranked school district in Chippewa Valley, a hospital and a major shopping hub in town, and prices below what you'd pay closer to Lake St. Clair or in Oakland County. The tradeoff is that this is a drive-everywhere township, not a walkable downtown. There's no central main street to stroll, and the 22-mile distance to Detroit means a real commute if you work in the city. If you want suburban space and value over walkability and a short city commute, Clinton Township is a strong fit. If you want to walk to a coffee shop, look elsewhere.
The homes
The housing stock is mostly postwar and later, with a lot of construction from the 1960s through the 1990s as the township filled in. You'll find ranches and colonials on full lots, mid-century brick homes, newer subdivision builds toward the Macomb Township edge, and a meaningful share of condos and apartments mixed in. It's a wide range. Older, smaller homes sit near the southern and western edges, while newer and larger product tends to cluster to the north. That spread is part of why the township works for first-time buyers and move-up families alike.

Most of Clinton Township is served by Chippewa Valley Schools, the largest district in town with about 14,276 students. The township is split across district lines, though. Parts of it fall into Clintondale Community Schools, L'Anse Creuse, Fraser, and Mount Clemens Community Schools. Because the boundaries cut through the township rather than around it, confirm the exact district for any address before you fall in love with a house. A street can change districts within a single neighborhood.
